GYMNASTICS CLASSES

Are you looking for Gymnastics in Dagenham, near Romford, or Gymnastics in Havering, based at our Upminster venue?

All Catleaps gymnasts start out in our one or two-hour classes. Sessions are structured to include a pulse-raising warm-up, stretching and then apparatus-based work.

Coaches clearly plan their sessions to ensure that all gymnasts are stimulated mentally and physically, actively being involved in the development of their skills.

Conditioning exercises allow the children to develop speed, stamina, strength and flexibility to allow them to perform repetitions of skills safely and with ease and confidence.

On vault, gymnasts perform a range of movements from developing skills on the springboard to more complex twisting vaults, a ‘stuck’ landing is always key!

During floor sessions, gymnasts will perform jumps, shapes, balances, locomotive and rotational skills with all classes carefully tailored to your child’s ability level.

The higher-level children perform choreographed floor routines with the girls using individually selected music, including leaps, jumps, spins and acrobatic elements.

We welcome your child to gymnastics once they’re fully toilet trained and no longer in nappies – our preschool classes start from 3 years of age.

Gymnastics in Havering

Gymnastics classes in Dagenham & Upminster

Our larger venue is Robert Clack Leisure Centre, in Dagenham, Essex. This is in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham and sessions run every day of the week except Saturday.

The Coopers’ Company & Coborn School, Upminster, Essex, in the London Borough of Havering is our smaller venue. Gymnastics lessons in Upminster run on Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday.

We offer a (paid) trial class so that the gymnast can try the class before signing up. This trial session is covered under our club insurance policy. After the trial, you can sign up for the place.

How to pay Fees

Payments

The classes are split into monthly terms, with payment due by the 2nd of the month. Fees vary according to the days of the month but are generally 4 or 5 sessions each.

Payment for classes is due even if your child cannot attend due to illness, injury, self-isolation, quarantine or holiday. If there is an enforced lockdown then class fees will be carried over.

Invoices will be sent out a week to 10 days before they are due and can be paid by credit or debit card. A reminder will be sent via text and email on the 1st of the month for any unpaid invoices.

Generally, we will continue offering classes through school holidays, with the exception of Bank Holidays, the Summer holidays (optional Summer classes will be available to book into) the Easter Weekend and Christmas (normally we have a short break for Christmas/New Year).

Sometimes the school will be unavailable to book, which we’ll advise you about before the block of lessons. During competition weekends, classes are normally cancelled.

Insurance

MEMBERSHIP

All gymnasts pay compulsory insurance and Catleaps Gymnastics fees upon joining and then annually.

All coaches and gymnasts must have our compulsory insurance to ensure safety. The membership year runs yearly and the annual fee is currently priced at £24.

We are committed to ensuring our coaches are qualified to the highest level and also take part in regular training as part of their CPD. The fee to be a member of Catleaps Gymnastics is £16 and also runs on an annual cycle.

Safety & Compliance

CLUB RULES

We’ve developed Club Rules to detail our policies; to safeguard gymnasts and coaches and to ensure the smooth running of the club.

Every parent/guardian must confirm that they will comply with the Club Rules upon registering.

Please ensure that you have familiarised yourselves with the Club Rules and share these with anyone who will be dropping your child off or picking them up after training to ensure the safety of all.

Gymnastics Award Scheme

Certificates, Award Scheme & Presentation

RECOGNITION

At the end of each session, our coaches award certificates to gymnasts who should receive recognition.

This could be because they have worked hard, gained a new move, shown support for another gymnast, or listened carefully.

Gymnasts are photographed with their certificates and celebrated on our social media channels.

Our Celebration Evening is where we recognise the hard work of our gymnasts and coaches.

We have also introduced a Certificate of Achievement Award Scheme, which follows the same progressions as our competition programme.

Gymnasts will be rewarded with a certificate upon completion of each stage.

To see the enthusiasm in a sport that my children love. Catleaps is a family and very supportive. They have helped me gain confidence in helping out at competitions etc. To see my children achieve their goals but most importantly the fun and friends they have met. The encouragement and strength from the coaches for my children to grow in confidence and ability. It is a fantastic club and I will always recommend Catleaps to parents that ask me.

Workshops, Social Events

Holiday Classes

During the Summer School Holidays, our regular classes are closed and we offer optional Summer Classes and Master Classes that are normally open to members and non-members. This allows siblings or friends to come along and enjoy the sessions.

We also offer Workshops throughout the year where our gymnasts can learn new skills.

Team Jamaica gymnast Danusia Francis attended a session to offer a choreography workshop, and Diversity member Warren Russell ran a dance workshop.

We have great links with other clubs and arranged for our male gymnasts to attend a gymnastics session at South Essex Gymnastics Club to train alongside Olympian Brinn Bevan and Team Jamaica gymnast Reiss Beckford.

From time to time we arrange social events such as pyjamas and Halloween Parties.
