Universities
We work with universities to provide courses for confidence in Teaching Gymnastics for Student Teachers. We can provide British Gymnastics Teacher Award Courses or bespoke training.
Our Director, Catherine Bates has worked with Universities to strengthen their delivery of gymnastics.
She has worked with the University of East London and the University of Middlesex to tutor their PGCE and GTP Students through the BG Intermediate Secondary Teacher’s Awards.
This gives the students an excellent knowledge of gymnastics, which they take with them as they begin their career as Physical Education Teachers.
We also invite University Students to take part in our Invitational Competition programme.

Gymnastics for student teachers
We can offer the British Gymnastics School Teacher Qualifications, which train Teachers and student Teachers to teach and develop gymnastics in school.
The qualifications that British Gymnastics offer are:
- Teachers’ Introductory Gymnastics
- Teachers’ Intermediate Gymnastics Primary
- Teachers’ Intermediate Gymnastics Secondary
The courses are suitable for Teachers and Teaching Assistants who hold a QTS or formal qualification or for individuals working towards these qualifications.

Gymnastics courses
The British Gymnastics Teachers Award Courses have a range of positive outcomes following the course for student teachers.
The course takes you through the main elements when Teaching Gymnastics for Student Teachers. Upon completion of the course, you will be qualified to teach gymnastics within a school environment.
- Build confidence in your approach to gymnastics
- Develop the necessary skills required to teach set moves
- Give you the ability to incorporate apparatus and sequencing into lessons
- Help you to understand and underpin good body management
- Teach you how to identify and remedy common faults
- Develop your subject knowledge for future courses

Take your university team’s season to the next level! We offer flexible, high-quality event opportunities perfectly suited for higher education athletes.
Compete in the structured Catleaps Invitational or showcase your choreography and performance skills at the non-competitive imaGYMnation Festival. Both events provide an excellent platform for individual achievement and team bonding, welcoming mixed-ability and mixed-gender squads.
